Reviews and salon rankings

Last updated: 5 October 2026

1. Who can post a review?

On the website and in the client app, you must be signed in and the review must concern your own appointment, marked “completed” in Bookelya. Cancelled appointments and no-shows cannot be reviewed through this process. This check links the review to a recorded appointment; it does not, by itself, prove that the service actually took place or establish its quality.

2. Publication, updates and anonymity

You give three whole-number ratings from 1 to 5: welcome, service quality and establishment quality. A comment is optional and limited to 1,500 characters. You must agree to anonymous publication. Your name is not displayed with the public review; Bookelya retains an internal link to your client record and appointment.

The review is published as soon as it is saved, without prior salon approval or systematic human review of the comment. This process imposes no deadline after the appointment. One review is retained per client record and salon: a new submission replaces the previous ratings, comment, linked appointment and submission date.

3. Ratings, dates and display order

A review’s overall rating is the equally weighted average of its three ratings, rounded to two decimal places. The salon rating is the average of published overall ratings; the review count is shown. The display may round this average to one decimal place. It is not a quality certification.

On the public profile and in the client app catalogue, reviews appear newest first by latest submission, with up to 120 reviews loaded. The average includes all relevant public reviews, even when they are not all loaded. The displayed date is the submission date, not the service date. Salon websites may show a selection from the 30 most recent reviews with comments.

4. Authenticity, incentives and retention

Describe your own experience honestly. Fake reviews, disguised advertising and reviews obtained in exchange for an incentive that compromises their independence are prohibited. Bookelya’s review submission process offers no reward and provides no import of external reviews. No automatic text check guarantees that reviews are genuine.

Reviews are published and retained for three years after publication, then deleted. They may be replaced or deleted earlier, including following a request examined by support. When a new submission replaces a review, this period runs from the new publication. To request removal of your review, write to contact@bookelya.com and identify the salon and booking concerned.

5. Moderation, responses and challenges

The form rejects a submission if appointment or rating requirements are not met, the comment is too long or anonymous publication is not accepted. After publication, report unlawful content, impersonation, fake reviews, spam or disclosure of personal data by email. A negative rating or disagreement with the salon does not, on its own, justify removal.

The salon has no button to approve, delete or publicly reply to reviews. It may request a check or send its observations to contact@bookelya.com. Requests to respond, remove content or challenge a decision are assessed manually under our content reporting policy. Salon responses are not automatically published.

6. Listings and search filters

The directory lists establishments whose profiles are enabled for listing and indexing and whose public address is not hidden, with commercial premises or a home-service offering. Your filters first determine which salons are included: type, city or area, service mode, amenities, minimum rating and availability. Text search covers, among other fields, the salon name, location, description and types.

Availability is a filter based on an index of time slots, not a ranking boost. The index is refreshed periodically; actual availability is checked during booking. A result therefore does not guarantee that a slot remains free.

7. Ranking criteria and relative importance

“Recommended” is the default order. Without text search, salons are listed alphabetically. With text search, priority is given in order to an exact name match, a name starting with the search text, a name containing it, then other matches. Within each matching level, higher average ratings come first, followed by alphabetical order. A search recognised as a salon type may become a type filter and return to alphabetical order.

Other sorting options replace that order: highest rating followed by descending review count; lowest service price in ascending or descending order; increasing approximate geographic distance from the reference point; or newest profile creation date. Names then break ties. Missing ratings, prices and coordinates are placed last. Without a usable reference point, distance sorting falls back to alphabetical order. Distance is not travel time.

These criteria apply in the order described, without an overall percentage weighting. The homepage’s new-salon section is ordered by creation date. In the client app, favourites and previously visited salons reflect your history; they are not the directory’s general ranking.

8. Payments and salon presentation

The directory’s current ranking does not use the salon’s subscription plan, a commission or payment for a higher position. It provides no sponsored placements. Services pinned by the salon change which services appear on its card, not its position. A directory listing does not constitute a Bookelya guarantee of quality or professional qualifications.
